Atlanta Medical Center's Laboratory Services department offers a wide range of services to include: histology, cytology, microbiology, blood bank as well as general lab. The laboratory department focuses on customer service and quality of tests results and our lab is CAP and AABB accredited. Monitors PathNet to check utilization, a daily processing of the system, and restores archived patients if needed daily2. Communicates with Data Processing on a continuing basis regarding STAR/Cerner issues to maintain optimum performance of the two systems. 3. Adds new personnel to the system and ascertains appropriate security level as soon as notified of their start date.4. Seeks ways to contain costs.5. Troubleshoots routine problems with the system and attains a resolution within 1 hour 90% of the time including the Pulmonary Department.6. Assists DP and/or QUEST of any interface problems or changes to assure timely processing of orders that meet TAT criteria. 7. Directs and coordinates updates and developments of PathNet with the various lab sections and departments of the hospital, and implements them in a timely manner with regards to time allotted to individuals that are assisting and appropriated funds for enhancements.8. Schedules changes and updates with Cerner for implementation. 9. Updates and enhances requests from the Pulmonary Department concerning Cerner.10. Instructs personnel on the various components of PathNet and maintains computer check-off lists to verify performance.11. Periodically in-services the Nursing staff and Unit Secretaries on ordering lab tests in STAR.12. Maintains procedures related to PathNet.13. Coordinates changes and enhancements concerning QUEST/Cerner interface.14. Contacts QUEST Laboratories for pricing information on new tests which need to be added to the QUEST/Cerner interface. 15. Coordinates the Medicare changes with the appropriate Financial, Information Systems, Laboratory personnel and Hospital Compliance Officer. 16. Participates in Hospital chart audit committee for Medicare Auditing compliance.17. Participates in Departmental Monthly Quality Assurance Program. 18. Reviews Hospital and Laboratory inspection criteria to ensure compliance.
