The Medical Technologist will perform standardized to complex laboratory tests in the general lab Section; assignments often require technical expertise and independent judgement. Some of the duties include:1. Verifies proper specimen/test/patient identification2. Takes responsibility for completion of daily routine duties assigned to work area3. Investigates and resolves pending and incomplete work, clerical and technical discrepancies4. Performs and records quality control, takes and documents appropriate action5. Troubleshoots problems with procedures, Quality Control, instruments and computer6. Recognizes unreasonable results/ patient information and reacts appropriately7. Participates in proficiency testing8. Meets expected requirements of Laboratory Continuing Education program9. Performs appropriate repeat testing when abnormal results are found10. Judges specimen adequacy/ integrity11. Reports and investigates computer problems and instrument problems12. Completes testing within turn-around time guidelines13. Organizes and completes several tasks simultaneously without loss of accuracy14.
