Glatfelter, a $1.6B global pulp and paper corporation has an immediate opening for a Scientist in its G-Force specialty chemical line of business. Based in Chillicothe, Ohio, the successful candidate will be on the ground floor of this new business venture. Working on products featuring various microencapsulation technologies, the successful candidate will be interacting with sales, marketing, manufacturing, environmental, health and safety functions within the company. In addition, the role will interact directly with several global consumer products companies where our products provide value added benefits and are receiving broad consumer appeal. Accountabilities• Provide technical expertise and support the business unit by developing new products or improving existing products. Plan, design, and conduct experiments and trials to produce prototypes that meet specific targets and timelines. Develop new test methods and product specifications, as needed. • Assist scale-up engineers in implementing new technologies related to new products and processes in the manufacturing facilities. Provide assistance in trouble-shooting both existing and new product lines; • Generate ideas and propose projects that will lead to new sales and revenues for the business unit or enhance customer relationships; • Demonstrate strong understanding of industry and markets and technology trends; identifying threats and opportunities and ensuring business issues are addressed; understand underlying customer issues and identify approaches to achieve results and solutions; • Track, communicate and document progress of projects appropriately. Participate in cross-functional product development teams.
