Details: Description: The Chemist I in Quality Control is responsible for the execution of wet chemistry techniques during testing of materials, finished product, and components. This testing includes, for example, pH, titrations, determination of physical appearance, UV, IR and wet chemistry such as oxidizable substances, and heavy metals. Use of analytical instrumentation, such as HPLC and GC will be introduced. Assignment of such testing will be determined by the supervisor. Duties & Responsibilities:Analytical testing of materials, finished product, and components. This testing will primarily consist of wet chemistry techniques. Determination of the appropriate specifications and methods used for testing. Clear documentation of test activities in approved worksheets and laboratory notebooks. Execution of mathematical calculations as outlined in test methods. Assess data to determine if the material tested meets specifications. Limited peer review of data. Use of analytical instrumentation at the discretion of the supervisor. Participates in the Quality Improvement Process May be assigned to general lab dutiesRequirements:Requires a four-year degree in chemistry or a closely related science with a minimum of 20 hours, including analytical chemistry, of chemistry coursework. Must have practical experience with wet chemistry techniques. Experience with analytical instrumentation and software (i.e. Chemstation) is a plus. Laboratory experience should include preparation of samples, following written procedures, record keeping, and client/customer interaction (preferred).Eligibility Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
