Details: Business Area: Sustainability & Environmental Management Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance Travel: Approx 10% continental U.S travel required The successful candidate will serve as the Safety and Occupational Health Specialist for the National Training Center Safety Office located at Fort Irwin, CA. The position responsibilities cover the development, promotion, execution, and evaluation of the G3 and Operations Group Safety Programs. The position will be supporting the planning and organizing of safety inspections and making technical analyses to resolve diverse high safety risk hazards throughout rotational exercises.The candidate will:- Develop and recommend accident/injury avoidance techniques into operational orders and SOP's for unit implementation. - Investigate accidents occurring on Fort Irwin and surrounding training areas, involving equipment and personnel (including civilian employees, military technicians and soldiers). - Ensure all accidents are properly reported and corrective actions are implemented to prevent similar accidents from occurring. - Participate in a comprehensive safety program covering a broad range of functions including diverse ammunition storage in maneuver training area, environmental hazards, program administration, control of unsafe actions and conditions, safety education, risk management, and systematic evaluation of operations and accidents. - Independently conduct surveys, inspections, and staff assistance visits to selected organizations to ensure applicable safety standards are being properly enforced. - The work requires some Temporary Duty. The performance of work duties frequently requires inspections of shops, hazardous storage facilities, and construction sites. - There is extended periods of walking and standing, bending, stooping and crouching. There is a need to carry limited amounts (not exceeding 25 lbs) of testing or personal protective equipment.
